Behind the scenes at Salsa Shop

On Wednesday 27 August, we did something different. We opened our kitchen at Amsterdam Central to a handful of food media and influencers. Not to watch from the sidelines, but to roll up their sleeves, step behind the counter and see what Salsa Shop is really about. Inside the kitchen

Food influencers and media guests rolling burritos during a Salsa Shop cooking workshop at Amsterdam Central, guided by our chef Alex.

First up was Louis, our founder. No corporate slides, no long story. Just who we are, why we do what we do, and what keeps us showing up every day with fresh ingredients and bold flavours. Louis knows how to tell a story, especially this one. Straight from the heart.

Then Alex took over, ready to show what happens on the line. From the moment he started, everyone was hanging on his every word, and laughing just as hard. He’s got that mix of kitchen know-how and pure entertainment that makes you want to keep listening. By the time he’d finished showing how to fold a burrito, he’d collected a few fans along the way.

And then it was their turn. Some burritos came out neat and tight, others a little more experimental. Either way, the kitchen was buzzing. Among the group were We Like Amsterdam, Lekker Seb, De Hippe Vegetariër, Foodini, Gabriel Matser and Saffron & Tarragon.

Why we do it our way

We ended where it all comes together: eating. For us, it wasn’t about teaching people how to cook. It was about showing what drives us: bold flavours, fresh food, and the simple fact that eating together unites. A lot of people think what we do is just fast food, but during this workshop we showed that it’s different. Its fresh ingredients, made with care, meant to be shared. We might roll fast, but it’s never fast food.

And maybe that’s the takeaway for you too: the next time you’re rolling a burrito at home, don’t stress about making it perfect. Load it with good ingredients, share it with people you like, and you’re already doing it the Salsa Shop way.
