What’s changing, and why

These shops are next on the list for renovation. And if you’ve seen one of our recently updated locations, you know this isn’t a small tweak. The difference between before and after is big.

Our earlier shops were playful. Lots of colour. A lot happening at once. It worked, for that moment in time. But as we’ve grown, we’ve learned that louder isn’t always better.

The new direction is calmer. Still unmistakably Salsa Shop, the vibrant red is still there of course, but grounded. More wood. Stainless steel tables and stools that nod to classic Mexican taquerías. Food photography that doesn’t shout, but invites. The kind of space where the food is the main character again.

For The Hague and Rotterdam, this is the first time we’re rolling out this new look. And that makes it extra exciting.

Why the space matters

A restaurant isn’t just where you eat. It sets the tone for how you feel when you walk in, how long you stay, and whether you come back.

We’re redesigning our shops to match how people actually use them today: quick lunches, short stops, repeat visits. Spaces that feel warm but efficient. Calm but alive. Places where the food speaks first, and the room supports it.

So what’s in it for you?

A better experience without losing what you already like. Same food. Same pace. Same energy, just in a space that feels easier to be in.

These renovations aren’t about chasing trends. They’re about building shops that age well, work harder, and feel right now, and five years from now.

We’re not changing who we are.

We’re just making more room for it.
