New City, New Friends, New Favourite Burrito Spot

During introduction weeks in Groningen and Eindhoven, we welcomed thousands of new students with €1 burritos, salsa tastings and a first taste of Salsa Shop while they discovered their new cities.

SSRE stopped by Salsa Shop Eindhoven for salsa tasting, €1 burritos and a very busy introduction week.

Introduction week is basically one big crash course in your new city.

You figure out where to study, where to go out, which bike routes to avoid and where to get food when you've had approximately four hours of sleep.

So naturally, we wanted in.

A Very Busy Week in Groningen

During introduction week in Groningen, Salsa Shop was part of the student paklijst. Groups made their way through the city collecting stamps, and ours came with a pretty good bonus: a burrito for €1.

All week long, students walked through our doors. Some very energetic. Others looking like the night before had been slightly more successful than the morning after.

Luckily, burritos work in both situations.

And while the €1 deal gave them a reason to come in, the bigger idea was simple: let new students actually experience Salsa Shop while they're discovering the rest of Groningen too.

Next Stop: Eindhoven

A week later, Eindhoven got its turn.

This time, students from SSRE stopped by throughout the day to taste their way through our salsas and grab lunch for €1.

Students are constantly moving between lectures, work, sports, friends and everything else student life throws at them. Food needs to keep up. Something fresh and filling, but also quick enough to grab between whatever happens to be next.

Introduction weeks give us the perfect chance to become one of those places early on. Not by telling new students where they should eat, but by getting them through the door, handing them a burrito and letting them decide for themselves.

Judging by the number of empty wrappers, we'll take it as a good sign.

Welcome to Groningen and Eindhoven.
